IRCAN Congress – 2018
Aquatic research models to study regeneration and aging
Planktovie participated to a congress organized by the Research Institute on Cancer and Aging on November 22, 2018 in Nice. It was a day dedicated to aquatic research models such as zebrafish, where scientists working with freshwater or marine water models, meet and discuss molecular advances as well as the latest imaging tools developed in different aquatic organisms.
It was Cyril, technical and commercial engineer who went there to present some of the Planktovie’s products, especially the dry feed Gemma Micro, specially developed for zebrafish. Then the Fishgun D1, a semi-automatic dry feed dispenser, making it easier for zoo technicians to work, and offering more precision in feeding fish.
Cyril also mentioned the advantages of using Rotifers as feed for zebrafish, instead of Artemis for example, in particular because they can be enriched therefore the nutritional value offered to aquatic models is improved. In addition the Rotifers have the advantage of being able to be cultivated continuously, which facilitates the control of the feed given to the fish, as well as the management of the pet shop facilities.
Finally, Cyril presented the benefits of the different fitting salts for the Rotifers culture (15 ppt), or for zebrafish tank (1-2 ppt), such as Royal Nature salt, reputed to be pathogens free.
