Olivier Detournay, PhD – Scientific Director

Doctorate in cancer immunology from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Olivier then focused his research in the USA on the potential of aquatic animals as emerging laboratory models. At the same time, he worked as a scientific consultant-expert in setting up aquaculture projects around the world to enhance the value of marine species destined for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He is the author of over 10 scientific articles and 2 patent applications. At PLANKTOVIE, the Scientific Director is more specifically in charge of running the technology platform and coordinating development programs, as well as the business development aspect.

Emmanuel Sobra – Chairman

Notarial training in law and business law, with international experience. Since 2005, he has been very active in a number of technological fields, and has been putting his technical, legal and financial skills at the service of companies for many years. He is also a specialist in asset management, and very familiar with fund-raising procedures specific to innovative companies, as well as their support and development.

Eric Röttinger, PhD – Scientific Board

CNRS research director and team leader at the Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging in Nice (CNRS, INSERM). He has extensive experience in the development of marine organisms for fundamental and biomedical research and innovation. Eric is also Director of the Institut Fédératif de Recherche sur les Ressources Marines at the Université Côte d’Azur, and co-founder and President of the non-profit organization Kahi Kai (Hawaiian for ocean), which promotes the importance of marine organisms for science and society.

Cyril Lefranc – Corporate Engineer/Developer

Fresh from a PhD in computational fluid dynamics applied to biology, he also holds a Master’s degree in Ecology and Biodiversity Management, specializing in aquatic biology. A professional diver, he has given numerous training courses for adults in aquatic biology and aquaculture, from beginners to experts. He is in charge of R&D as well as sales and business development.

Baptiste Roumezi – R&D Project Leader

Doctor in Microbiology and Biotechnology. He focuses his career on the bioproduction of molecules from microalgae. He is in charge of optimizing culture conditions, bioproduction, data analysis and project management..

Niels Salmon – Marketing & Communication student

In his final year of a Master’s degree in Marketing and Communication with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, he is in charge of communications, marketing and sales management.

Eva Farinel – Science & Biology student

A science and biology undergraduate at the University of Aix-Marseille, she is responsible for the cultivation and maintenance of dinoflagellates.
